ASSEAN MEMBERSHIP

PREAMBLE

Junior Chamber International, commonly referred to as JCI, is a non-profit international non-governmental organisation of young people between 18 and 40 years old. It has members in about 124 countries, and regional or national organizations in most of them.

It has consultative status with the Council of Europe, with the Economic and Social Council of the United Nations and with UNESCO.  It encourages young people to become active citizens and to participate in efforts towards social and economic development and international cooperation, good-will and understanding.

More than 50 years ago, the JCI Senate was established to recognize the outstanding achievements and service of JCI members worldwide. A JCI Senatorship is awarded to honour an outstanding JCI member and their value to the organization. The JCI Senate is an honour that lasts a lifetime.

ASSEAN MEMBERSHIP

Countries who are members of the Association of JCI Senator in the South East Asian Nations are Malaysia, Singapore, Vietnam, Indonesia, Philippines and Thailand.

National organization of JCI Senators in other countries within the ASEAN REGION maybe accepted to the ASSEAN, while other countries outside the ASEAN REGION may be accepted as associate members of the ASSEAN by the decision of the majority of the members of the Board of Directors.

Members of the Association of JCI Senator in the South East Asian Nations (ASSEAN) Inc., must be a member of the JCI Senate and has been conferred the ‘JCI Senator’, which is the prestigious award that is presented by the JCI Senate to a JCI member for their outstanding performances.

Only citizens of Philippines, Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand and Indonesia are eligible to be a member of ASSEAN. 

Currently there 180 active members in the ASSEAN, they are predominantly successful business proprietors in their home country.
